Lake Bled Winter Swimming Event 2015

Lake Bled, Slovenia hosted the 5th annual winter swimming event. On 21.February, 2015 almost 60 international swimmers took part in cold swimming in the 4C water.

This event was established after Bled hosted the World Winter Swimming Championships in 2010 when over 700 swimmers participated from all over the world.  Slovenia is a small and very beautiful country nestled between Italy, Austria, Croatia and Hungary and it has many stunning lakes and rivers to offer. Most popular ones for adventures and sight-seeing are Lake Bled and Lake Bohinj.

The event is now organised by Bled tourist board in partnership with Strel Swimming Adventures. The traditional venue has been set up in front of the renowned and top class Grand Hotel Toplice on a premiere location in Bled.

This year swimmers came from 9 different countries, including Slovenia, Croatia, Greece, United Kingdom, Austria, Germany and Slovakia.

There were 4 different disciplines to compete in: 25m breaststroke, 25m freestyle, 50m breaststroke, 50m freestyle and “The penguins dip”.

Apart from great outdoor swimming, guests can also explore Triglav national park by doing activities such as snow shoeing, cross country skiing, going on a cultural tour to Radovljica, Vintgar gorge and walk around Bled. And not to forget, everyone must try the famous Bled Cake while there!

We look forward to seeing you back in February 2016. Why not come back, maybe just for a great cake!
